Comprehensive Dental Exams
Many people wonder if making it to their biannual dental appointment is really necessary. The short answer is—yes! Good preventive care could help reduce your risk factors for certain illnesses and can simply help you achieve and maintain the level of excellent oral health that lets you look and feel your best.
Outstanding Oral Hygiene
Regular check-ups are a key ingredient to a healthy preventive care routine. By examining your teeth during your visit, Dr. Foster is able to screen for any issues that may be developing, such as tooth decay or gum disease. Instead of waiting until a problem is in advanced stages, she can identify issues early and avoid extensive treatment down the line.
We look forward to serving your entire family. We recommend your child start seeing a dentist early to monitor their development. As children lose their baby teeth and permanent teeth come in, it’s important to check in and ensure that development is occurring properly.
We also know how important your time is and will do everything we can to ensure that your regular visits begin on time and are completed efficiently
Every new and established patient receives a thorough exam during routine cleaning appointments. A comprehensive exam includes the following:
Oral Cancer Screening
We perform and intraoral and extraoral inspections by palpating and visualizing your tissues through magnification loupes. If tissue abnormalities are detected, or you have high risk factors, additional tests may be performed or a referral to a specialist may be recommended.
Periodontal (Gum) Disease Evaluation
Your foundation of your teeth is your supporting bone and gums. We utilize gum measurements and x-rays to determine if you have gum disease. Periodontal therapy will be discussed to get your mouth healthy again.
Check for Tooth Decay
All of your teeth will be checked for cavities, cracks, broken or leaking fillings, and any other conditions that may compromise their function.
Assessment of the TMJ
Dr. Foster will feel your jaw joints for any popping or clicking, limitations in opening, or any other issues that may require attention.
